Description
Homes in Somerset is entering a pivotal phase in its development. Following agreement for the organisation to assume management responsibility for Somerset Council’s full housing stock, the organisation will double in size, creating a single, county‑wide housing management service responsible for 10,000 homes.
This is a significant moment to join an organisation growing in scale, complexity and responsibility, with a clear commitment to strong asset stewardship, customer outcomes and long‑term sustainability.
To support this next stage of growth, we are seeking an exceptional Head of Asset Management & Sustainability to join our senior leadership team.
Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, Safety & Development, you will provide strategic and operational leadership on the management of our homes, shaping long‑term investment planning, regeneration and sustainability programmes, ensuring our homes are future‑proofed, energy efficient and aligned to evolving customer expectations and regulatory requirements.
You will lead the development and delivery of the Asset Management and Sustainability Strategies, using high‑quality asset intelligence to inform evidence‑based investment decisions, regeneration proposals and stock viability assessments. This includes balancing affordability, decarbonisation, compliance and customer outcomes, and providing clear, expert advice to the Executive Team and Board on asset options, whole‑life costing and social value.
We are seeking a senior leader with extensive experience in asset management, sustainability, retrofit or housing investment within a social housing or similar regulated environment. You will bring credibility at Executive and Board level, strong commercial and contract management expertise, and a proven ability to integrate teams, lead through change and translate strategy into practical delivery.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a critical senior function at a moment of genuine organisational transformation and to play a defining role in ensuring Homes in Somerset’s homes remain safe, sustainable and fit for the future.
